2021 Senate Bill 224 (Portantino): Mandated Mental Health Education to Schools

Approved by Governor October 08, 2021 | CAYEN co-sponsors

SB 224 Pupil Mental Health education mandates age-appropriate mental health education to middle school and high school students attending schools that have a dedicated health curriculum. This bill arose in the midst of a pandemic that negatively exacerbated access to behavioral health supports and services. This access to mental health education is a basic pillar to advocacy for youth and TAY by providing a foundational understanding of the importance of mental health. CAYEN stands in support of basic access to mental health education and resources for all.
