Regional Occupational Centers & Programs
Regional Occupational Center & Programs commonly known as ROP, offers free or low cost classes. Upon the completion of many of these courses certificates are often offered, and they will assist you with job placement.
Job Corps is a free job training program, they also can help you with housing, and getting your GED.
Americorps is a community service program. Some programs provide a living allowance, food, and housing. You may also be able to complete your GED, and other training while a member of Americorps.
City Year is a year of services where you work in the community gaining job skills and training. It focuses on bringing together young people from many different backgrounds, and both giving back to the community and training a new workforce.
The California Conservation Corps, also called the CCC, is for young men and women ages 18 to 25. It’s a great way to get training, and help our environment at the same time. Plus you get paid. Housing and meals are also available.
The Capital Star Crisis Residential Program (CRP), called The STAY, that serves TAY and young adults ages 18-29 is now open in Sacramento. Up to 15 residents are able to stay for up to 30 days. Residents receive counseling and services that support their transition to housing, employment, education and ongoing care. The STAY responds to a huge need for TAY and young adults, many who have a mental illness like depression, anxiety, or PTSD and need treatment to help them through a rough point. CRPs are lower level, unlocked, voluntary facilities, and clients do not need an acute level of care requiring hospitalization.
